polycarbonate sheets products may fade due to various factors. The fading of polycarbonate sheets is related to the light resistance, oxygen resistance, heat resistance, acid and alkali resistance of the color masterbatch, as well as the characteristics of the polycarbonate particles used. According to the processing conditions and usage requirements of the board, the required pigments, dyes, surfactants, dispersants, carrier resins, and anti-aging agents should be comprehensively evaluated for their properties before selection during the production of the masterbatch.
The thermal stability of heat-resistant color masterbatch refers to the degree of thermal weight loss, discoloration, and fading of pigments at processing temperatures. The components of inorganic pigments are metal oxides and salts, with good thermal stability and high heat resistance. Organic compound pigments undergo molecular structure changes and minor decomposition at a certain temperature. Especially for PC polycarbonate sheets products, the processing temperature is above 280 ℃. When selecting colorants, attention should be paid to the heat resistance of the pigment and the heat resistance time of the pigment, usually requiring a heat resistance time of 4-10 minutes.
The fading of acid and alkali colored polycarbonate sheets products is related to the chemical resistance of the coloring agent (acid and alkali resistance, redox resistance). Molybdenum chromium red is resistant to dilute acid, but sensitive to alkali, and pot yellow is not acid resistant, seriously affecting the heat resistance and weather resistance of the color masterbatch and causing fading.
